Kathleen King grew up in the quiet beachside town of Pacific Beach, California and began her career as a public muralist in San Diego in 1983. The artist has designed, coordinated and executed over 50 murals for public, commercial and private spaces over the past 23 years. In addition Ms. King has developed and conducted art programs for advanced students in inner city schools in both San Diego and Compton California.

Several of the public projects have become local landmarks or newsworthy events attracting generous media attention. This resulted in extensive print and broadcast coverage through which was gained ample experience in working effectively with the press.

In a widely diverse career the artist has worked in film, theater, television, and media design in addition to painting, always with an eye and ear to the political, the prescient and the avant-garde. What follow are six paragraphs each highlighting a project from these areas of interest.
